Rumour: Donal Logue Offered Jim Gordon

Donal Logue rumoured for Jim Gordon

With FOX ordering the pilot for new Batman series Gotham, it’s only natural that we’ll start to hear casting announcements.

And the first of the rank is Donal Logue, with rumour of him being cast as James Gordon.
However Logue was quick to deny with this tweet:
@nerdbastards not true! I wish-would be awesome (but who could top Gary Oldman?) From what I heard, Gotham catches Gordon in his late 20’s
— donal logue (@donallogue) January 15, 2014

Not that an actor denying when they’ve been given a part is an uncommon thing, but it would seem strange to flat out lie about it.

He could be looking to play a different role (which villain would he best be suited for, and given his reference to age maybe an older one. Would it be too far to suggest he could be a younger more-military Alfred as seen in Batman: Earth One?) or not at all be involved with the project. I guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens there.

Visually he does have similar characteristics to Gordon, with a trim of his beard and a pair of glasses could work nicely. For those who have seen his previous work (Sons of Anarchy and Terriers), he’s certainly up to the job.

As noted in his tweet, it is hard to go past Gary Oldman at James Gordon, so whoever is up for the gig will need to bring something of their own.

It's only fair to share...
