Fox Announces Gotham TV Show

A young James Gordon will be the focus of FOX's Gotham TV show

Fox have announced plans to bring Gotham City and its characters to the small screen, in 2014’s Gotham.

In a similar vein to Superman’s Smallville, Gotham will focus on a younger Batman story, although not necessarily with Bruce Wayne as the focus. Although it’s early days, rumor is the key focus of the series will be a young James Gordon (who presumably will later go one to become Commissioner).

There isn’t much information kicking around at this stage, however a story focused on James Gordon would make sense as he works his way through the police system, tackling Gotham’s most notorious bad guys on a weekly basis.

Of course it can’t be Gotham City without Batman, so expect a cameo or two.

The TV series will be lead by Bruno Heller, best known for his work as the creator of The Mentalist. His involvement at this stage includes scripting and producing the pilot, with an assumption long term to remain at the helm.

We’ll bring more information as the project comes to life, including casting and story information.
